Surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful bush and ocean near Barrytown, on State Highway 6, Ti Kouka House is situated 20km from both Punakaiki to the north and Greymouth to the south. The West Coast is a place of rugged coastline, mountains swathed in lush green forest to the water's edge, and world renowned hospitality. Come to 'the Coast' to get away from the city, to breathe fresh air, to surrender yourself to the elements, to relax, to recharge. We have a reputation for rain, but we do live in a rainforest, and the weather is part of the character of the place. Tucked in between the mountains and the sea, it can be a wild place. Then again, we do actually get fantastic weather a lot of the time, and the sun is all the more welcome after a good Coast downpour. The West Coast is a special part of the country unlike any other, and its charm has lured many into staying longer than planned. Guests spending one night on the Coast often wish they had planned longer for this section of their journey, and many end up returning to spend more time exploring and slowing down to the pace of life here. We think you'll enjoy your time if you set aside a day to wander the beach, walk through the bush, or just read a book and soak up the surroundings.
