New Zealand, in case you haven't a clue, is a collection of South Pacific islands (three major ones) close to but certainly no part of Australia. We are a small nation known for our low population density (particularly in our part of the country), our bush, landscapes, waterways, and wide open spaces. This is a place where you can take a stroll on an east coast beach in the morning, cross a mountain pass, lunch in an alpine wilderness, and dine under a breathtaking sunset-pink sky on the west coast. We are lucky enough to have incredible diversity (and biodiversity) crammed into our wee sub-tropical paradise, and we love to share it with visitors from the world over.
You might also know us for our sheep. New Zealand is traditionally a primary industry driven economy, and sheep have been one of our major livestock for much of our history. You'll also find a large amount of dairying, viticulture, fruit growers and forestry here. As well as these most visible industries, we have a large and sucessful tourism sector, and a knack for innovative technology. We're a fairly active nation and there are myriad activities here to satisfy cruisers and adventurers alike. If you want thrills, we got 'em, and if you prefer fine dining, wine tasting and culture, you'll find it here, too.
